Error: Setup cannot find files on... (due to drive letter reassigned).
Error:
Setup cannot find the files on <path> from which you originally installed the product. If this is a network server, make sure that the server is still available.
Cause:
This error occurs when running Office Setup in the maintenance mode and the original path to the source files is no longer valid (for example, if a drive letter has been reassigned since Office 95 was originally installed).
Solution:
Run setup from the new drive instead of from the hard disk.
Do one of the following:
1) If Office 95 was originally installed from a CD-ROM:
a) Insert the Office 7.0 CD-ROM into the new drive.
EXAMPLE: If drive D: (the original CD-ROM drive) was reassigned to drive E:, insert the CD-ROM in drive E:.
b) Click 'Start' todisplay the Windows 'Start' menu.
Start menu
c) Select 'Run...' from the 'Start' menu.
d) Type E:\SETUP.EXE in the 'Open' box.
e) Click 'OK'.
2) If Office 95 was originally installed from a network drive that has been remapped:
a) Create a connection to the new network drive:
1] Open 'Network Neighborhood' on the desktop.
Network Neighborhood
2] Do one of the following:
a] Open the network server icon.
b] If the network server is not visible, open 'Entire Network' and open the server.
3] Right-click on the drive to be mapped to display a Shortcut menu.
4] Select 'Map Network Drive'. (A screen from which a network drive can be mapped is displayed.)
5] Select the drive letter to be mapped from the 'Drive' menu.
6] Select the 'Reconnect at Startup' check box. (This will maintain the mapping when rebooting.)
b) Run Setup from the newly mapped network drive.
3) If Office 95 was originally installed from a floppy diskette:
a) Insert the floppy diskette into the new drive.
EXAMPLE: If the floppy drive A:\ was reassigned to drive B:\, insert the Office 95 Setup diskette 1 in drive B:.
b) Click 'Start' todisplay the Windows 'Start' menu.
Start menu
c) Select 'Run...' from the 'Start' menu.
d) Type B:\SETUP.EXE in the 'Open' box.
e) Click 'OK'.
